Little frustrations

Day one and two went very well. We stayed at the volunteer fire and rescue station in Claxton last night. I have photos to share, but my brand new HP netbook died today. It has a corrupt operating system and won’t boot! The error message says “the HP BIOS application selected is corrupt or missing. Please install the application and try again.
BIOS application error(501)
Any suggestions? I bought it directly from HP online.

Yikes! I know nothing about computers, but I entered your error message into Google and found several very technical message boards discussing this error message. One site had a straightforward suggestion that I believe would be easy to try. It’s at:

    I hope it works!

Cherri. May your computer be soon fixed so you can continue your travel commentary. Ron.

Thanks Ron! We just go to Frostburg, MD, and I decided to plug the comp in to charge the Ipod, and it booted right up!
      Wonderful, right 🙂

Steve, that is exactly the kind of help I was looking for. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. I’m shipping it back to HP from Cumberland, md in several days. They have to ship a mailer to me, I have to ship comp to them, then, they ship it back. The prob. Is, I don’t have addresses of the trees I’ll ce sleeping under, or the people who will take me in.
So they are shipping to a bike shop and I’ll call the bike shop and ask them to accept the pkg. Will then go ahead and book a place at Niagara , and hope the hotel will accept the pkg for me.
    Praying this works.

In the scheme of things, that’s little more than an annoyance, but those can be frustrating. Sounds like you’ve got it worked out, though. Good job!

You can have it sent to a post office for gernal delievery. I’m sure you have this issue set up already. But if you have things you want sent to you while on the road. Find a small city you’ll be passing by that has one post office and that you know you’ll be in during the week and have things sent to you like that.

Unfortunately, as a warranteed product, they want it delivered to a place where someone is responsible for receiving it.
Thanks though! You will be hitting the road in 5 days, right? Our journey has been more difficult than I anticipated. The Towpath requires a great deal of work to travel. It’s wet and boggy, and sucks your wheels, which isn’t at all like drafting!

C, been watching for updates. Will send this on the Lee, my son the computer genius, see what he says.

Any thoughts?
