What a great weekend for cycling. After an awesome day on Saturday, which you heard about, John and I opted to stay local to cycle today. John usually begs off the “road” rides because he hates traffic. So we went to my Saturday ride start and I showed him the route I lead. We wanted to ride in Ashland, but wanted to get about 20-30 miles. We began at the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen, and cycled to the Ponderosa Steak House (unplanned) in Ashland. We had lunch, explored some neighborhoods in Ashland. It’s full of beautiful, historic homes. I’ll have to post pictures of them sometime. We saw the old trolley lines (thanks Bill Britton) and even found a pet store, which John had been looking for.
All in all, it was relaxing, a little chilly, as we rolled back in at the art center around 4:30, but we loved it. John finally got to see a tiny bit of where Bill and I like to ride and he wasn’t overwhelmed by busy traffic.
66 miles this week. Not good, but better than I’ve been getting since returning home. Looking forward to Wed. when there is nothing on the calendar until 6 pm and the weather is supposed to be 70˚
Go make your own breeze and remember: if you’re not having fun; you’re in the wrong gear!
Congratulations! I imagine attendance will only increase as the weather warms.
Thanks. It’s exciting, as I’m getting regular e-mails about people who want to join us and folks who want the club to offer more of these ‘satellite’ starts for this huge club ride.
cycle joyfully 8^)
