Bliss in the Saddle

Today was brisk, but a great day to ride. With no studio to go and work in, it’s silly how I still can’t find time to finish up all that needs to be done. Of course, Tuesdays=Dad-day ;0D, so my middle part of the day, my sweet Dad, makes time for us to have lunch together, and we catch up and chat. Last week he had planned to go to San Antonio to see my brother, so he was fortunate enough to get tickets to the two Richmond teams play in the Sweet Sixteen, and to see VCU in the Elite Eight. Excellent. Ok, so after lunch with Dad, I headed out to Charles City, to ride the Capital trail in Charles City. I had hoped to cycle the CC branch, then get on Route 5 east, and go to the next section of the trail, and cycle it to Jamestown. The problem? I forgot my helmet!!!!! Don’t pick on me for the many times I’ve forgotten equipment.

I never mind riding on a multi-use trail without a helmet (it’s legal for an adult to cycle without a helmet in our state). BUT I will not cycle on a road without a helmet. So, I got 14 miles in Charles City county. Drove home, and took a brief nap (all this not having a studio and not working is tiring), and went out again, with a friend for another 8-10 miles. We rode the same route that John and I had ridden last night. Thanks for riding with me Karren. I loved it.

So, just 24 miles, but a joyful day of riding. Tomorrow, I’m supposed to ride with the retirees. The weather forecast: 100% chance of rain. The ride was postponed to Thurs. What to do, what to do. I will get to stay home, and work on another commission! That way, I’ll be available to ride on Thurs;0D

We have a host for our first night out on the tour. We believe we have a host on the third night, but it’s not definite. I had to request a date change with our warmshowers host. We haven’t heard back whether the new date is convenient, but definitely understand if it doesn’t work out.

Go make your own breeze and remember: if you’re not having fun; you’re in the wrong gear!
