Lancaster, PA – covered bridge ride

Last night was difficult. My husband and kids were gone, and I am supposed to be getting ready for the PA ride, but without a ride partner, which isn’t nearly as fun for me. I love to ride and talk, and laugh and challenge one another, and just be kids;0) My FB friends know, I even put up a whiney wall post about riding it alone, and one of them, my ride partner from 26 years ago, responded.

If you’ve read my “about” page, you know about my friend, Kevin Custalow. Well, Kevin is going to ride the Covered Bridge metric century with me! Hooray. Haven’t seen him in 26 years, but we talked last night, and are very excited to catch up. Neither of us will arrive in Lancaster early, but hopefully, will be able to find a place to camp. Tomorrow should be a beautiful ride, and I’m very excited again, about doing the covered bridge tour. A congenial ride partner is very important to me.

Guess I need to start looking for ride partners for the Paterna Tour. If I’m this sad, thinking of doing a day ride alone, what would it be like for a whole year?  Well, I’m taking my new camera, so expect lots of pics.

No miles yesterday. I was supposed to ride around 6:30, but the clouds were hanging so low, and the wind picked up, which implied eminent rain, to me. My cycling partner came out onto my balcony, and we chatted and laughed and laughed some more. Life is so good.

Gotta go cycle this morning. My buddy, Bill, is up for some distance today, which is really what I like. If I could get 60 or 70 today, I’d be immensely happy. Will try to update this before I leave today.

Update from Lancaster, PA: Todays ride was 64.5 miles. Bill tuckered me out;0)  Great lunch at Stanley’s Store, on 33 at Stanley Corner. BEst burger, best fried, yummy something else, that I’m not going to tell on myself for eating;0) Pics of the covered bridges tomorrow.
